Healthy Eating
Healthy eating plays an important part of daily life at LVS Hassocks. Our enthusiastic catering staff have established a great rapport with our students and work hard to get them to expand the range of foods they eat. Our students also enjoy the experience of preparing and cooking food in our dedicated food technology classroom.
There is always a strong emphasis on fresh produce and a balanced diet. We aim to help students to recognise that healthy eating is critical for their all-round wellbeing.
We recognise that some young people require modified diets or additional dietary supplements, so work closely with parents and students to ensure we meet their needs.
Here is an example of one of our weekly menus:
The catering team work closely with the staff to ensure that students food preferences are supported. The team cater for gluten free and casein free diets and offer freshly cooked meals on a daily basis with homemade soup, a main meal which always has a vegetarian option, a salad bar, a deconstructed pasta option, jacket potatoes and dessert of fresh fruit. Water and fresh fruit are available at morning and afternoon break times.
Themed meals are a feature of the curriculum and are linked to our Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural programme.
