Chloe

Chloe’s short time at LVS Hassocks had a massive and positive impact, leaving her more confident and better able to cope. Joining in the Sixth Form, LVS Hassocks warmly welcomed Chloe and helped her settle in quickly.

Mum Laura remembers what a massive support Lou, her form tutor was: “Chloe thoroughly enjoyed her company and took on board all the coping strategies that were offered to her with open arms.”

Laura continues: “All the staff were extremely accommodating and supportive towards Chloe and if I had known about this school earlier, I would have sent Chloe there from Year 7. They catered to Chloe’s individual needs and worked alongside myself to get the best results for Chloe.

“I would highly recommend this school to any parent that has special needs children, as they cater for the individual, rather than making the individual fit into the environment that is created.”

From enjoying her lessons and making friends to benefiting from the full range of support LVS Hassocks provides students, Chloe most fondly remembers how much she liked the horticultural area and the personal support from all the staff.

And when it came to the skills learnt that have helped Chloe in her life since leaving LVS Hassocks, she remembers best: “Travel training, maths from working in the on-site café on a Friday, gardening skills and learning to speak up when needing help with work, or with something I didn’t understand.”

On leaving LVS Hassocks at the end of Year 13 in June 2023, Chloe took up a three-year place at St Pier College in Lingfield. Again, the school provided support to ensure Chloe enjoyed a smooth transition, with trusted staff giving both Chloe and her mum an initial run-down of why St Piers may or may not suit her, followed by two transition days.

Chloe is now looking forward to completing her three years at St Pier, as well as enhancing her travel training, social awareness and learning how to live independently.
