Employer Relationships
LVS Hassocks has several mutually beneficial relationships with local employers.
Our students get valuable work experience, and often full-time jobs, whilst our employers get an insight into putting inclusivity into practice by working with our neurodiverse students.
We are always keen to forge new relationships with companies and organisations, so if you are an interested employer please email us at info@lvs-hassocks.org.uk
Below are some of current relationships with local employers.
Edwards
Global technology firm, Edwards, a leader in industrial vacuum technology, has been working with LVS Hassocks for two years. The partnership is credited with providing beneficial experiences and opportunities for both parties; Edwards’ staff are learning more about employing neurodiverse people, while students gain invaluable work experience and more.
From high quality work experience to training days, the relationship with Edwards is having a “remarkable impact” on students, given them an “insight into the world of possibilities within the world of technology”, said John Spring, LVS Hassocks.
This year, Edwards’ executives are also planning to assist students with mock job interviews, which will both assist our pupils and help Edwards’ staff gain experience in interviewing neurodiverse people.
WH Smith
WH Smith is a well-known high street retailer, best known for selling books, magazines and stationery. The Worthing store has been working with LVS Hassocks for the past two years, offering work experience to a number of students.
“It’s nice to help the kids,” says the Worthing Store Leader, Chelle Dales. “It’s about giving them an understanding of the working world. It also helps us out – we’re often short-staffed – so having helpers come into the store can really assist us in getting extra jobs done.”
Students from LVS Hassocks have shown to prove their worth, by getting involved with a variety of tasks, including working on the shop floor, where they have the chance to interact with shoppers, as well as other staff.
Our Careers Events
We occasionally like to host Careers Events for our pupils at LVS Hassocks, to give them the opportunity to meet local businesses and understand more about their opportunities for the future. These are often in the form of Careers Cafés, where pupils and parents visit our on-site café, then head over to the Sussex Centre to talk to the employers that we work with, as well as other participants who kindly offer their time.
Past guests include Edwards Vacuum, Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation and Crawley College.
