Curriculum
Here at LVS Hassocks our students learn in a structured environment with high levels of targeted intervention and differentiation throughout the school day.
Although we operate on broadly age-related levels of achievement, we use a ‘stage not age’ approach to learning and anticipate that our students will gain a range of GCSEs and vocational qualifications at the end of Key Stages 4 and 5.
With small class sizes, averaging eight students per class, and a teacher and LSA in every class, we provide both academic and personal learning opportunities for young people with autism.
Our integrated approach also has therapists supporting teaching staff to ensure that classrooms are autism-friendly and the language requirements of the curriculum are differentiated for different student cohorts. This ensures that students enjoy learning and gain self-confidence and self-esteem.
“LVS Hassocks has an excellent curriculum and matches learning to my son’s needs and capabilities.”
