An Autism-Specific School

LVS Hassocks is a Special Educational Needs School. Find out what an SEN School is.

We are the winner of the ISA SEND school of the year for 2023.

Our specialism is autism, and we offer day places to young people with autism aged 11-19.

Many of the young people who are referred to LVS Hassocks have encountered negative school experiences as a result of their diagnosis. This may have been because school refusal or multiple school exclusions has meant a poor quality of life for the young person with special needs and their family.

It is often at this point that referrals are made to LVS Hassocks.

All applicants are carefully considered to ensure that the school is suitable for the young person’s age, ability, aptitude and special educational needs and that the placement is compatible with the provision of efficient education for other pupils already attending the school.

All young people admitted to LVS Hassocks:

  • Have a primary diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • Must have an Education, Health and Care Plan
  • Are aged between 11-19
  • May have additional needs associated with ASD

Please read our How to Apply page to get a better understanding of the process and how to start an application. If you have any questions about our admissions process or criteria then Make an Enquiry below.

What We Do

At LVS Hassocks have a structured educational environment and an approach that focuses on developing a young person’s independence and confidence. We also equip students with the functional skills needed for dealing with everyday life, both during their time at school and in later employment.

Led by Rachel Borland, the Principal of School, our experienced team of teachers and teaching assistants are passionate about providing a positive and nurturing learning environment for young people with a diagnosis of autism.

We have created a specialist curriculum underpinned by our three areas for development:

  • Learning
  • Growing
  • Achieving

HM The King Royal Patron

Royal Patronage

In May 2024 it was announced by Buckingham Palace that King Charles III was our new Royal Patron. This continued the Royal Patronage of his mother, The late Queen, Queen Elizabeth II.

LVS Hassocks are delighted that King Charles has agreed to take on the royal patronage of the school. This follows a long history of Queen Elizabeth generously supporting the school. We look forward to the King getting to know our special and unique school.
