Students at LVS Hassocks are celebrating a range of fantastic results from this year’s GCSE’s, BTEC’s and other qualifications. Year 9 & 10 students demonstrated resilience and hard work after sitting GCSE Art early and achieving 100% pass rate with a range of grades from 6 – 4.
The specialist school provides an education for young people with autism where students can learn, grow and achieve, socially, academically and to live independently as adults in a calming and appropriate environment through not only academic progress but with access to a range of qualifications.
Headline results include:
- 100% pass rate in GCSE Art
- 100% pass rate in BTEC Level 1 & 2 Home Cooking Skills
- 100% pass rate BTEC Art Level 1
- Sixth form students achieved a Level 1 Barista Qualification and Silver in the Duke of Edinburgh Award
- Students across the school gained Level 1 Sports Leaders Award and the Bronze in the Duke of Edinburgh Award
Many students with autism can suffer with high levels of anxiety, so it is important to acknowledge the challenges that come with taking part in assessments and examinations. This is an amazing achievement.
School Principal, Jen Weeks, said “We are extremely proud of our Year 10 and Year 9 students who have sat their Art GCSE early and their grades are a testament to the hard work and effort they have put into their work. Students from across the school have sat a range of qualifications, including our Year 8’s completing their Sports Leaders Level 1, Year 9 and 10 students developing their independent skills through completion of the Level 1 BTEC Home Cooking qualification and the many students who showed a range of skills through the completion of their Silver or Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards.”
